Coloured Pencil Cat

Just finished this beautiful Tabby cat last week in coloured pencil. Mostly Prismacolor and some Polychromos on Arches watercolour paper. I was working from a packet design by Gayle Mason from the UK. I just love the way the eyes turned out!

Racoon Scratch Art

July 1 2011

This week I finished this cute raccoon designed by Shelley Prior with slight modifications "par MOI." Done on Ampersand Clay Board (8x10)
I love Scratch Art - it's SO much fun!

I spent a lovely morning on the back porch with my hubby - who's been on holidays this week - and a pot of Earl Grey - soaking up the sun and reading the latest issue of Art Journaling by Stampington. :-)
This week I was also working on revamping my online Art Journal course - watch for it!
Happy Canada Day to all my Artistique friends !

Coast to coast

May 27 2011

O-kee-dokey! Now my college course is finished...we had a week of holidays in Lancaster PA at the Sight and Sound Theatre. We saw "Joseph".

So now the summer is mine to work on decorating in my house and concentrate on my ART!!!! I have managed to squeeze in some time to work on some projects over the last 3 months but haven't been blogging about them. So I'll catch you up on what I've been doing behind the scenes :-)

I taught an Artist's Sketchbook course at Coast to Coast in April and met some great people who wanted to start to work on their drawing skills and develop their creativity by keeping an Art Sketchbook of their own...It's the first time I had taught this course in a classroom setting - and of course in 6 hours you can't cover everything that's in my longer 8 week online course...but we covered quite a bit in 6 hours! :-)

I also took a class with Shelley Prior - It was called Puppy Dog eyes... Isn't this the most adorable puppy picture ever??? Totally done in pencil. I only had a little bit of finishing to do when I got home. I love it! What do you think?

Oct 21 2010

Well, I've been working on this painting for several months now. It's a design by Neadeen Masters that she has been teaching online at the  Art Apprentice Online (AAO) classroom.

You know you are NEVER quite finished a painting, but I think I'm going to varnish and call it quits for this one. I learned quite a lot - mostly that I want to quit painting just before it turns beautiful!! One more layer....one more layer .... LOL!!!

Traditions Tier One projects

Sept 2 2010

I have just finished an online painting course that I have been working on for quite some time.
The Traditions Art school Tier One is a basic course in using Traditions paints and mediums manufactured by DecoArt.

The teachers of this fabulous online art course are fantastic! They have not only taught us how to use the paint and mediums but have given a course in colour theory, colour mixing, and art history also!
These are the paintings I completed by watching and painting along with the step by step videos. A wonderful learning experience!

Can't wait for Tier Two! I KNOW I will be learning a LOT!!!

Scratchart cat

A little Scratchart kitty I tried recently :-)
Done on an Ampersand clayboard. It's a board covered with a layer of white clay and then covered with a layer of India Ink. You scratch off the design elements. (A little tricky to photograph since the white shows up so much! )

Zentangling !

Friday Feb 5th I posted a Valentine's Zentangle to my other blog which I have since deleted. I thought I'd show you - just because :-)

I used a pigma pen and shaded with graphite.

I designed it as a Valentine's card for a calligraphy guild I attended this winter.

I just might get addicted to this Zentangle stuff!

Red Poll challenge

SOLD!!! :-)
11/19/11

This summer the Decorative Artists in Canada email list on yahoogroups held a Summer Challenge. Since I was so far behind in reading my emails I got a late start on this challenge - and I only started it last week. I was able to work on this for 2 painting sessions and got my submission in under the wire. All who tried the challenge painted from a photo taken by Kim Magee.

I'm really quite happy with how this turned out. I may play with it a bit in a day or two before I varnish - but I'm calling it done now :-)

YAY! My Artist's Sketchbook-Journal course has been chosen for Coast 2 Coast convention this year! Art Journaling has been a fun way to improve my drawing and designing skills.

I'm also working on revamping my online course and adding video to it. If you're interested, send me an email and I'll send you the details when it's ready to go!
